JEREMY READ
Ann Arbor, Michigan

Jeremy Read, 19, was born in Chicago, Illinois. Today, he attends the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and when school is out of session, he lives in San Diego, California. Jeremy is pursuing a degree in statistics and also plays on his university’s football team. His interests include sports, video games, writing poetry and watching TV and movies. Jeremy was at school on Sept. 11. The following day, he wrote his poem, “The Game Must Go On.”

The Game Must Go On

In a time of tragedy,
A time of despair,
A time of shock to the world
The game must go on!

In the worst of times,
We must continue,
We must be strong,
The game must go on!

We have been knocked down,
But not out,
We must get up,
The game must go on!

We are mourning a horrible day,
A day never to be forgotten,
But history shows,
The game must go on!

We must operate,
Show no weakness,
Live up to our hype,
The game must go on!

We have been issued a challenge,
We must accept it,
And overcome it,
The game must go on!

In the end,
We have all lost,
But the final score shows
The game must go on!
